Welcome to 1 South West, a partnership working to ensure the development and promotion of off-road cycling in the South West takes place in a co-ordinated way to the benefit of all. This website is designed to help you understand the project and how you can get involved.

The 1SW Project aims to encourage more people to cycle off-road across the South West, benefiting their health and well being. To learn more about the 1SW project please click on about us

Please view this website as an information source that will help everyone with a role in developing the region.  Information stored here, from bike shop locations to explanations of how to get trained as an off-road cycle instructor, is all to enable others to get more people cycling off-road in the South West.  This website is not aimed at promoting the region for off-road cycling. We will be developing a more 'public friendly' website to encourage visitors and local people to get out and ride, ready for first release in September 2010.

Rural Development Programme for England Funding

The 1SW Project’s Executive Board has worked with partners to develop a bid for the co-ordinated and sustainable development of off-road cycling in the south west, achieving many targets of ‘Towards 2015’, the Regional Tourism Strategy. Follow the link to find out what the 1SW RDPE bid includes and how it will be delivered.  This bid was submitted for funding to South West Tourism as the funding facilitators, and was considered by the Sustainable Rural Tourism Steering Group. The funding stream applied for is the Rural Development Programme for England (RDPE) Sustainable Rural Tourism programme.  This bid was approved by the South West Regional Development Agency’s Board on 21st October 2009.  This project is part funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development 2007-2013: Europe investing in rural areas.  Click here for the EU Commission's Rural Development webpage
