One of the aims of the 1 South West project is to provide cyclists with a warmer welcome to the region – information on where to ride, what to expect and where to find facilities. To achieve this we have been working with the 14 protected landscapes of the South West through their Protected Landscapes Forum.
The South West Protected Landscapes Forum (SWPLF) is the umbrella body for the 12 Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty and 2 National Parks in the South West. It has been thanks to their vision that the online Adventure Cycle Map now shows so many hundreds of miles of cycle legal tracks in some of the most beautiful parts of the
area, enabling us all to explore with confidence.
However, the Adventure Cycle Map has been only one part of the work in these areas, and we have been working with a number of small businesses to help them provide a warmer welcome for adventurous cyclists. In our subsequent newsletters we will provide more details of what is being done and where.
