If you wish to lead groups of cyclists off-road then you should have a recognised formal qualification. Please be aware that these qualifications may not be enough on their own and you should ensure that you have the relevant training for the environment in which you wish to work.

Criminal Record Board checking is essential for anyone working with children.

A first aid qualification is also a must-have when leading any group. Providers include the Red Cross and St Johns Ambulance.

It is usually advisable if not essential to have an outdoor leadership qualification for taking groups into the countryside, although this depends on how far from a metalled road you wish to take them. Advice is available on this from the syllabus of the South West Mountain and Moorland Leadership Award administered by Mountain Leader Training England.
