Cycling Holidays UK

From 2002-2011, an average of 290,000 people per year visited the South West from abroad. Several thousand of those travelled for a cycling holiday to one of the region’s numerous bike hubs.
As such, 1 South West has included details of ‘cycle friendly’ accommodation  for riders on our interactive Adventure Cycle Map.

All accommodation providers listed on the map have confirmed that they meet the following criteria:

Essential:

  • A dedicated place to dry outdoor clothing and footwear (n/a campsites)
  • A lockable covered shed for cycle storage (n/a campsites)
  • Information on the nearest cycle specialist or internet access (to 1SW Adventure Cycle Map) for guests
  • Visible Information about local cycle routes – an O.S. map as a minimum. Web access (to 1SW Adventure Cycle Map) for guests desirable
  • Resources to check out the local weather forecast – may be just a phone number
  • Local rescue services details

Desirable:
  • A hose / bike wash facility
  • A workshop facility
  • Cycle tools including a track pump
  • Inner tubes and puncture repair kits for sale
  • A member of one of the region’s Destination Management Organisations

The UK is one of the most popular destinations for cycling holidays in Europe due to its array of beautiful scenery for the inexperienced riders and challenging trails for the more accomplished cyclists.
